When a friend or loved one goes through something horrible, it is wonderful to send them a note or show up in a strong way when that horrible thing happens. But the truth is that the pain continues for so much longer. SO MUCH LONGER.

We want to help you keep showing up for your friend over the course of the first year -- we'll send you a card as soon you order, 1 month later, 3 months later, 6 months later and a year later. 5 cards spread over the year to help you send a note to your friend that shows you're still there. If the pain's not leaving (and it lessens but it doesn't leave), you're not leaving either. Each card comes with a brief description of why these words matter, some resources to help you figure out what to say, and a couple ideas of what else you could do to shop up at this point in the process.

Card order is influenced by what we felt like -- during the first year of cancer treatment, during the first year after loss, during the first year after a major trauma -- and by the experiences shared with us by other survivors of cancer, loss and assault. We particularly want to celebrate and support the work of The Dinner Party, so proceeds from this subscription will go to them. The Dinner Party brings together young people around a potluck dinner table to talk about life after loss. It's so good.
